What is PSHE?
PHSE stands for Personal, Social and Health Education. The subject develops pupils skills and knowledge they need to prepare for life which includes keeping healthy and safe.
The national curriculum states that 'all schools should make provision for Personal, Social and Health Education.'
Why PSHE matters?
Do I need PSHE in my School?
Schools are not required to teach PSHE education. However, The Education Act 2002 requires all schools to teach a syllabus that is "broadly based, balanced and meets the needs of pupils". All schools are required to "promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and prepare pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life".
